Death - Dying

Your sins will not die with you as a prisoner’s other debts will; but they will go to judgment with you there to be your accusers; and they will go to hell with you there to be your tormentors. [ASGTH]

Many a time God permits the wicked to outlive their godly parents and friends, that these pious persons may escape the anguish of weeping over them, when they die in their sins, in their unbelief, and in their impenitency. [JJTP]

The more work we do for God, the greater will our reward be. [TDOR]

The more work we do for God, the more willing we shall be to die, and the sweeter death will be. [TDOR]

Ah, souls! When you shall lie upon a dying bed, and stand before a judgment-seat, sin shall be unmasked, and its dress and robes shall then be taken off, and then it shall appear more vile, filthy, and terrible than hell itself; then, that which formerly appeared most sweet will appear most bitter, and that which appeared most beautiful will appear most ugly, and that which appeared most delightful will then appear most dreadful to the soul.  [PRASD]

If tomorrow be your dying day, make today your repenting one.

It is a wise investment of time to be certain that what I am living for is worth dying for.

“The Gospel is my only source of comfort and every sinner is as welcome as I. How pleasant that neither great sins nor great troubles can alter those consolations. Ever since God dealt savingly with my heart I have never taken comfort in the thought that my sins were small, but in the belief that the blood of Christ cleanseth from all sin.” (Death-bed confession of John Brown of Haddington)
